The Friends of the Sonoran Desert National Monument is a volunteer organization dedicated to the preservation and conservation of the natural and cultural resources of the Sonoran Desert National Monument. To fulfill this mission, the Friends of the Sonoran Desert National Monument conducts hands-on stewardship projects in the monument each year.

Ongoing projects include:

  • Restoration of the Juan Bautista de Anza National Historic Trail.
  • Road closure and restoration.
  • Scientific data collection, including assisting the Arizona Game and Fish Department.
  • Road inventory.
  • Litter removal.
  • Invasive species inventory and removal.
